Real weight loss results of up to 2-4 pounds per week.
What are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide injections?
Both medications are FDA approved assisting with weight loss. A powerful appetite suppressant, these medications mimic natural hormones regulating food intake and the desire to consume higher quantities. We also use Vitamin B12 injections to help boost our patient’s energy and metabolism.
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are indicated for use in adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, or in adults with a BMI of a 27 or more who have at least one weight related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol.
It’s important to note that Semaglutide and Tirzepatide should be used in conjunction with diet and exercise for the best results. It’s also not recommended in pregnant of breastfeeding women or individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma.
What is the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide injections?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are both injectable medications, but they work in slightly different ways.
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means that it works by mimicking the effects of GLP-1, a hormone produced in the gut that stimulates insulin secretion, reduces glucagon secretion, and slows down gastric emptying. By activating GLP-1 receptors, Semaglutide helps to lower blood sugar levels and promote weight loss.
Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1 receptor agonist. In addition to activating GLP-1 receptors like Semaglutide, it also activates GIP receptors, which stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas in response to food intake. By targeting both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, Tirzepatide has been shown to be more effective in lowering blood sugar levels and promoting weight loss than GLP-1 receptor agonists alone.
In terms of dosing, Semaglutide is available in a once-weekly injectable form, while Tirzepatide is also a once-weekly injectable medication. However, Tirzepatide comes in higher doses than Semaglutide, and it has been shown to be more effective at lowering blood sugar levels and promoting weight loss in clinical trials.
The choice between the two medications may depend on the individual patient’s needs and preferences, as well as their response to the medication.
How are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide injections administered?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are administered once weekly, subcutaneous injection (under the skin). Patients are started on the lowest dose and titrated up as tolerated every four weeks. It is required to follow up with our practitioner every four weeks to maintain the correct dosage. It’s important to follow the prescribed dosage and schedule.
What are the long term affects of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide injections?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide have been shown to be effective in promoting weight loss clinical trials. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reported an average of weight loss of 15% in participants over one year.
However, it’s important to note that Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are new drugs, and their long term effects are still unknown. It’s also not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Lee-King Wellness encourages you to understand the importance to maintaining healthy eating and exercise habits as a lifelong goal.
